Pre-Cast Story:
I finished university in 2014 and had no idea what I wanted to do professionally in my career. Luckily, my two uncles offered me a job working at a subcontractor in the demolition industry while I figured things out. During my time at the subcontractor, I developed a passion for construction. I progressed from a site operative to a trainee project manager where I pursued a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in construction. I worked on various projects, including Battersea Power Station, and eventually took on the role of managing my own £12m demolition, piling, and enabling works project called 22 Ropemaker Street, before moving to a consultancy.
Your Career Journey at Cast:
I joined Cast on the day of the first COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020 as an Assistant Project Manager. Since then, I have been involved in various exciting projects, including student accommodation, later living, hotels, market for sale, and build-to-rent developments. This experience has allowed me to build my skillset, and over the course of four years at Cast, I have progressed to a Senior Project Manager, where I manage projects and oversee a team of Project Managers.
Current Role:
As a Senior Project Manager at Cast, you are responsible for leading the management of large-scale projects ranging from £50m to £150m+. This involves overseeing the internal Cast team of project managers, the design team, design and construction programmes, procurement of a contractor, and administering a contract right through to handing over a finished building to the client for occupation.
What are your ambitions:
My aim is to continue growing and learning and developing into the role of Associate Director.
