For the last 18 months, Cast have been part of a Construction Industry Productivity Taskforce convened by Be The Business, an organisation focused on helping solve common business problems across the economy. The issue of construction productivity has long been recognised as a structural failure in our sector and so signficant effort has been expended by the taskforce to produce some support material and mechanisms that will raise awareness and drive improvements. One of the key components of this is recognising the need to be able to measure site productivity and using industry recognised data and metrics to be able to improve it.
This sits well with Cast’s drive to drive industry change and deliver better outcomes and we are delighted to have played a part in shaping the 7 step framework for success which is published today. This includes future consideration of the Pre-Manufactured Value (PMV) metric as a proxy measure for wider outcomes beyond productivity and as a behavioural change tool in early brief and design consideration.
