In an event attended by 140 people in London last week, Cast presented a new digital app that it has been keenly working on for the last 20 months.
Developed in partnership with Bryden Wood, PRISM is the first web-based app in the world operating on an open-source basis and supported at a city government level. It was a concept born out of early conversations between Cast CEO, Mark Farmer and London Assembly Member, Nicky Gavron. Nicky Gavron’s 2017 report, Designed, Sealed & Delivered made specific recommendations on how London could better promote precision manufactured homes, building on recommendations made in The Farmer Review.
Mark developed these conversations with the Greater London Authority’s Housing & Planning team and proposed a technology-led innovation that can operate at scale and align to currently available forms of Modern Methods of Construction.
PRISM has two parts to its functionality – an open data set for project benchmarking and an intelligent design configurator that optimises residential design against available manufactured building systems. The app’s development included extensive consultation with the architectural and manufacturing communities and has been led and co-sponsored by leading clients, Greystar, L&G, L&Q and TfL.
Cast is pleased to announce that the app is free and easy to use and is available here.
