Anti-Harassment Statement

 

This statement applies to all employees, workers, contractors, customers, clients, subcontractors, guests, volunteers and associates of Cast.

Cast is committed to providing a respectful, inclusive working environment where people are treated and treat others fairly, equitably and with dignity; where they feel safe and free from harassment in all its forms, including sexual harassment. To create that environment, everyone is expected to maintain appropriate standards of behaviour by refraining from conduct that may be (or perceived to be) harmful, derogatory, discriminatory or offensive.

This commitment extends both in and out of the workplace, such as on business trips or at events or work related social functions. It covers all forms of harassment by those employed by Cast and also by third parties such as customers, clients, suppliers or visitors to our premises. Where reports of third-party harassment are raised, Cast will conduct a full investigation into the matter and where proven, will impose a ban on the confirmed harassing third-party from any contact with the employee concerned as well as barring them from entering company premises. The company will support employees, where appropriate, with reporting abuse and harassment to the police.

Cast takes allegations of harassment or bullying against any individual or group of individuals seriously and will address those allegations promptly. Incidences of harassment or bullying by an employee will be dealt with under our Disciplinary Procedure. A confirmed complaint of harassment or bullying my result in a formal disciplinary sanction up to and including termination.

The Law

The Equality Act 2010 prohibits harassment related to gender, sexual orientation, marital or civil partner status, gender reassignment, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, disability or age.

The Protection from Harassment Act 1997 also makes it unlawful to pursue a course of conduct which is known or ought to be known would constitute harassment, which includes causing someone alarm or distress. Additionally, under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 employees are entitled to a safe place and system of work.

Types of conduct that Cast Consultancy considers inappropriate include, but is not limited to:

(1) harassment, which is defined for purposes of this statement to include offensive and unwelcome
conduct based on ethnicity, religion, disability, physical appearance, gender, or sexual orientation;
(2) offensive gestures, name calling, and verbal comments;
(3) deliberate intimidation;
(4) stalking;
(5) sustained deliberate disruption of meetings or other events;
(6) inappropriate physical contact whether sexualised or not; and
(7) unwelcome attention whether sexualised or not.
