Cast CEO, Mark Farmer recently gave a keynote speech at the annual conference of the British Institute of Kitchen, Bathroom & Bedroom Installation (BiKBBI) This year’s conference was hosted by Hannah Prevett, Deputy Editor of The Times Enterprise Network, on 7 February in Westminster’s QEII Centre and was attended by more than 150 business leaders and senior managers. Alongside Mark, a keynote speech was delivered by Fergus Harradence, Deputy Director of the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy both supported by BiKBBI’s honorary patron Stephen Metcalfe MP, who opened the conference, as well as CEO, Damian Walters who provided a update on the institute’s progress against its strategic objectives.
Mark set out the scale of the industry’s challenges in attracting more new talent to replace its ageing workforce, to make the industry more atractive and productive and to create the environment in which quality and technical excellence flourishes as consumers become more demanding. Mark pointed out some of the unique attributes of the kitchen sector in embracing modularisation and high pre-manufactured value which needs to be expanded upon across industry if we are to change delivery techniques and better integrate Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).
