During a debate held in association with Zen, and chaired by Construction News, Cast Owner and Chief Operation Officer Lilly Gallafent joined the expert panel and weighed in on the topic of digitisation.
During this debate, each member discussed the current obstacles in modernising the industry via digital adoption as well as areas of the industry that are excelling and adapting.
Gallafent suggested that one key challenge concerning the future of digitisation for high-rise private ownership assets is that many of these housebuilders intend to sell the asset rather than operate it, meaning many housebuilder’s do not feel a sense of accountability with regards to the quality of an asset being improved with digital methods. But, Gallafent also added that a changing market with more focus on later living and build to rent is reviving BIM models as developers tend to hold onto the buildings for long periods of time, making maintenance an important factor.
